There is no better way to start this blog than with the words of the Dalai Lama, because in the logistics sector, being more precise in transport, there are short, medium and long-term challenges as a result of the multiple factors that can be social or political, which influence this primordial part of the supply chain.

Logistics transportation in Mexico is a sector that has evolved over the years; however, the globalization of markets brings with it challenges that the industry has to face as it has done previously.

The only difference between past and present adversities is that the challenges now are not only national but have a global origin where e-Commerce is one of the main factors of those changes that the industry needs to solve.

3 challenges in logistics transportation in Mexico

Before passing the challenges that arise in Mexico, if your company is starting with transportation it is necessary that you know that the operating costs of the transport service in the country, are commonly divided into

5 types of units

: Rabón, Torton, Trailer single combination two axles, Trailer single combination three axles and Trailer combination double trailer-“Full”, this in order to meet the needs of your company.

Moving directly to the subject, it must be clarified that there are many challenges at the logistical level due to the changes that arise according to the evolution of the market, on this occasion I will mention 4 challenges that are present especially due to the situation that the country is experiencing logistically.

 Last mile

On a previous occasion, we talked about a very important issue at the logistical level: the last mile

, the importance of this point has its origin in the fact that approximately 50% of the total cost of transportation is invested in it in addition to being the part of the process that causes the most problems. This is mainly because all the previous work can be impeccable but an error directly affects the customer from the state of the product, to the delivery time resulting in customer dissatisfaction. New technologies such as the experimental use of drones

by companies such as Amazon, the optimization of delivery routes through satellite location and even less human intervention are some of the solutions proposed to this problem.

Consumer

The customer is one of the great challenges of transportation because every day consumption habits require greater immediacy, where e-Commerce

has revolutionized and facilitated purchases by reducing it to a couple of clicks but has brought with it that the delivery of the products is made in less time, such is the case of Amazon where you receive the product in a period of 1 to 2 days depending on the delivery area. The main solutions to this topic are the optimization of processes through the use of technologies from the warehouse that thanks to a WMS (Warehouse Management System) to the tracking of the product during the last mile.

Security

In terms of safety, we are talking about the arrival at the warehouse, the departure of the product until its delivery in which various challenges are presented that involve from the handling of the product within the warehouse through its departure and in the safety of the roads that are used for its transportation. One of the solutions to this challenge is the use of a  TMS (Transportation Management System)

to have a better operation of the process being a valuable tool for a company.

With all the above, you will already have an idea of the logistical challenges of today, which are constantly changing. For this reason, if your company needs to optimize its logistics transportation or some process of the   supply chain, it is time to consider the outsourcing that will bring you an ally that can provide integral solutions to your needs. The first step is to contact a specialized executive who will support you in the search for flexible and effective alternatives to improve your logistics operations.
